The 6th General Assembly meeting of the ETERNAL project successfully wrapped up last week! Hosted by Universität für Bodenkultur Wien, the meeting featured valuable updates on six industrial case studies focused on sustainable pharmaceutical processes and life cycles. It also showcased advancements in assessing the environmental and ecotoxicological impact of pharmaceuticals, along with strategies for their prevention and mitigation. ASPHALION continues to play a key role by providing cutting-edge regulatory support, further amplifying the project’s impact.
A significant outcome of this initiative—research on the recovery and reuse of homogeneous palladium catalysts from reaction mixtures using commercial organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) membranes—was recently published in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Green Chemistry journal. This study, conducted by AstraZeneca’s research team, highlights innovative approaches to sustainable pharma practices. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eeszyjfk
Additionally, the meeting featured a cross-consortium workshop led by experts from UNE Asociación Española de Normalización. The session explored how new green processes, process models, and early-stage sustainability analysis could help shape new standards in the sector, ensuring lasting and widespread impact!
