Yesterday, Asphalion expert Fran Rodríguez attended at Fàbrica Moritz in Barcelona an exciting event that showcased the latest advancements in 3D Print and Biomaterials in the Health sector, organized by Xartec Salut and XARFA. This event brought together leading experts, industry professionals, and innovators to discuss the future of medical technology and its applications in healthcare.
During the event, various developments in medical technology based on 3D printing techniques and biomaterials were explained. Attendees had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge innovations and understand their potential impact on patient care and medical practices.
At the roundtable, Francisco Rodríguez spoke about Asphalion’s involvement in the European Smart Bone Regeneration (SBR), an EU-funded project initiative aimed at developing a resorbable implant for the treatment of large bone defects, which incorporates elements based on 3D printing. Francisco highlighted the groundbreaking nature of this project and how it represents a significant advancement in the field of regenerative medicine.
The importance of incorporating regulatory aspects and having a clear regulatory strategy from the earliest stages of development was also discussed. Francisco emphasized that a comprehensive regulatory framework is crucial to ensure the safety and efficacy of new medical technologies. Additionally, the need for a robust quality system was highlighted, where all the necessary manufacturing guidelines, validations, and controls for 3D printing as a production process are described. This ensures that the final products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
The event not only provided valuable insights into the latest technological advancements but also fostered meaningful discussions on the regulatory and quality challenges faced by the industry. It was a great opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas with key figures shaping the future of HealthTech.
