At ASPHALION, our success is driven by the dedicated and passionate individuals who make up our incredible team. Today, we are pleased to highlight and share the Asphalion journey of Mireia Lorenzo on our “People Talks”.
“I have been working at Asphalion since 2011. With a background in Veterinary Medicine and a Ph.D. in gastrointestinal physiology, I spent seven years combining academic research and clinical practice across different countries before joining the company. The scientific expertise and hands-on research management experience I gained during those years naturally led me towards consultancy and ultimately to my current role as Principal Consultant at Asphalion.
On a typical day at Asphalion, I lead several projects in parallel, from designing regulatory roadmaps for innovative medicines to drafting and reviewing the non-clinical and clinical sections supporting variations to already authorised products. My work also involves coordinating interactions with the EMA and FDA, preparing and defending briefing packages, managing ODD and OTC status requests, compiling Paediatric Investigation Plans, and authoring key clinical trial documents such as Investigator’s Brochures and IMPDs, among others.
What I find most rewarding is accompanying our clients throughout the entire journey: from developing the regulatory strategy and seeking scientific advice, through dossier preparation and responding to questions raised during the evaluation of the MAA, to finally seeing their product achieve marketing authorisation. Being part of that journey and contributing to such an important milestone is incredibly fulfilling.
What I value most about working at Asphalion is the perfect combination of people and projects. The atmosphere is genuinely collaborative—colleagues from every unit are always willing to share ideas, lend a hand, or celebrate a milestone together, making even the busiest days feel energising.
