Today, we are celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Women and girls represent half of the world’s population. Yet, they are not fully participating within the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), with a gender gap still remaining far too wide across the globe, since women account for less than 30 per cent of all researchers in the world.
The 2030 Agenda places gender equality and empowerment of women and girls at its core, recognizing the importance of girls and women as contributors and drivers of change. Therefore it is esential to get more women involved in science, technology and innovation. It is of the outmost importance to empower today’s girls who aspire to be tomorrow’s scientists, since this would not only benefit them, but also science.
For Asphalion, this day poses a double celebration: on the one hand, our company is focused on science and by helping our clients in making science happen, patients can benefit of a smarter and faster drug development. On the other hand, women account for over 70% of our workforce, so Asphalion´s DNA consists mainly of women and science.
Because of this, we have updated last year’s video, presenting Asphalion’s little scientific girls and what they turned into, paying our own tribute to them all that became today´s strong-willed, courageous and inspiring scientific women at the forefront of ground-breaking technologies and scientific progress.
We hope you´ll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed doing it!!
