On 26-27 April 2017 members of the ELASTISLET consortium met in Basel to discuss the general progress of the project being developed under the European Commission Horizon 2020 program.
The partners reviewed the current status of the planned activities, with special focus on encapsulation strategy. Based on bio-inspired material that mimics elastin and combining leading technologies, the project aims at processing cell therapy in order to create immune-isolated and biomimetic scaffolds for pancreatic cell transplantation.
The project is about to conclude its second year and experts are successfully working on this innovative and challenging way to cope with diabetes.
