Today, we join the global community in commemorating Human Rights Day, observed every 10 December to honour the enduring legacy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), adopted in 1948 as a global commitment to dignity, equality and justice for all.
This year’s theme, “Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials”, reminds us that human rights are not abstract ideals, but the foundations of our daily lives. They are in the air we breathe, the safety we rely on, the opportunities we pursue, and the voices we raise. In a time of global uncertainty, human rights remain our shared constants — positive, essential, and attainable.
This campaign calls on all of us to reconnect with human rights by recognizing how they shape even the smallest moments of our day. It is an invitation to value what protects and empowers us, and to take part in building a culture where dignity is lived and felt by everyone.
